Adquirimos o hábito de viver antes de adquirir o pensar. Nessa corrida que todos os dias nos precipita um pouco mais para a morte, o corpo mantém esta vantagem inalterável. Enfim, o essencial dessa contradição se acha no que denominarei a escapada por ser, ao mesmo tempo, um tanto menos e mais que o entretenimento no sentido pascaliano. A escapada mortal que constitui o terceiro tema deste ensaio é a esperança. A esperança de uma outra vida que é preciso “merecer” ou a trapaça dos que vivem não para a própria vidas, mas para alguma grande idéia que a ultrapassa ou a sublima, lhe dá um sentido e a atraiçoa.
